Developing leaders, not just players

A few of the athletes Sophie helped develop during her NCAA coaching tenure — on the ice and as people. Factual highlights, not endorsements.

Amanda Conway — Norwich University

Amanda became one of the most decorated players in Norwich history under Sophie's leadership — Laura Hurd Award winner (Division III National Player of the Year), AHCA First Team All-American, and Team USA experience. Just as important as the accolades was how she carried herself: Sophie's work with Amanda centered on accountability, competitive standards, and leadership on and off the ice — the habits that turn a talented player into someone a program is built around.

Olivia Zafuto — Colgate University

During Sophie's tenure at Colgate, Olivia developed into an ECAC standout defenseman and professional player who helped establish the Raiders as a national contender. Sophie's focus with Olivia went beyond positioning and puck movement to the quieter side of leadership — composure under pressure, consistency, and being a steadying presence teammates could rely on.

Shae Labbe — Colgate University

Shae grew into one of Colgate's most productive players during Sophie's time with the program — an ECAC top scorer and NCAA tournament contributor with a professional career. The development work paired offensive skill with mindset and competitive drive: bringing energy every day, raising her own standard, and setting a tone teammates followed.
